CLEVELAND, Miss. -- After wrapping up a solid fall schedule, the Delta State University men's golf team finished ranked 14th in the Golfstat.com Division II Men's Golf rankings.
Delta State finished the fall with a 72.07 scoring average with one event win and a runner-up finish for the fall. South Carolina Aiken occupies the top spot followed by Colorado State-Pueblo and Lincoln Memorial, University of Findlay, University of Indianapolis and Lee University.
The Statesmen defended their home course by winning the Derrall Foreman Intercollegiate with a 42-under-822 and claimed a runner-up finish at the Matt Dyas Invitational in Carrollton, Ga. DSU closed the fall with a ninth-place finish at the UNG Invitational in Gainesville, Ga.
Individually, Landon Cottrell, Jake Kight, and Mitchell Fifer post two top 10 finishes apiece. Cottrell won the Foreman Intercollegiate with a 12-under-204 and finished tied for 10th at the Dyas Invitational. Jake Kight posted two top 10 finishes, shooting an 11-under-205 to finish second at the Foreman Intercollegiate and tied for seventh at the Dyas Invitational.
Mitchell Fifer shot a nine-under-207 to take third at the Foreman Intercollegiate and tied for fourth at the Dyas Invitational with a two-over-218.
Delta State opens the six tournament spring schedule at the Mississippi College Invitational in Clinton, Miss., on March 1-2.
