Cottrell Helps Lead Statesmen to Win at Buccaneer Spring Classic

The Delta State University men's golf team shot a 10-over, 874, while Landon Cottrell shot five-under-par to tie for first place as the Statesmen took home the title at the Christian Brothers University Invitational.

  • Landon Cottrell shot a five-under-par, 211 to finish in a tie for first place.
  • Cottrell and Christian Brothers' Benja Boquette played one playoff hole, hole 18, for the outright individual title. Boquette saved par to edge Cottrell.
  • Cottrell shot an opening-round 68, tying the second best round of the week, to get the tournament started quickly for the Statesmen. 
  • The 23rd ranked golfer in NCAA Division II, Carner finished in a tie for seventh place after a two-over, 218.
  • Decenzo, ranked 77th in the country, finished tied for 32nd for the tournament's three rounds.
  • Carner's individual finish marked his fourth Top 10 finish of the season.
