ALBANY, Ga. — The Delta State University men's golf team finished 12th Tuesday at the Hurricane Invitational after carding a two-round total of 593 at Doublegate Country Club.
The Statesmen opened the tournament with a 295 before posting a 298 in Tuesday's second round to finish at 17 over par. Delta State competed on the 7,024-yard, par-72 layout.
Linus Utter led the Statesmen individually, finishing tied for 13th with a 143, one under par. Utter opened with a 70 and followed with a 73 in the second round.
Juan Amil finished tied for 39th at 148, four over par, after consecutive rounds of 74.
Ty Werynski posted a 150, six over par, and finished tied for 52nd after rounds of 72 and 78.
Gonzalo De Minon finished 69th with a 154, 10 over par, after shooting rounds of 79 and 75.
Fabian Fischer rounded out the Delta State lineup with a 155, 11 over par, following rounds of 79 and 76.
Nova Southeastern won the team title with a two-round score of 561, while Georgia Southwestern finished second at 563 and Lincoln Memorial placed third at 578.
Delta State finished just one stroke behind 11th-place Florida Southern and one stroke ahead of 13th-place Valdosta State.
The Statesmen will be back in action in two weeks as they head to Parris Island, S.C., for the Parris Island Legends Collegiate, Monday Oct. 19.
