HOT SPRINGS, ARK. – The Delta State University men's golf team finished in eighth place at the Battle for the Belt at the Hot Springs Country Club hosted by Henderson State.
The Statesmen as a team chalked in a score of 880 (+16) in a total three round tournament. Senior
Oliver Gemmel led the Statesmen golfers as he shot a 73 (+1) in the final round to take a top 20 finish with 218 (+2) in three rounds.
Freshmen
Anniston McIlwain and senior
Matt Nicell tied for 26
th overall in the tournament both shooting 219 (+3). McIlwain shot a 74 (+2) in the third round. Nicell shot a 76 (+4) in the third round.
The Statesmen will take a week off before traveling on Monday and Tuesday (Oct.14-15), to partake in "The Buddy" being hosted by Murray State University in Murray, Ky.
