BIRMINGHAM, ALA. – Delta State University Freshman golfer Zach Olsen was named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week announced by the Conference office this morning.
Olsen, earning this honor for the second time in the 2024 fall season, shot even par at The Buddy Championship at Murray State. His efforts helped the Statesmen earn a fifth-place finish marking the highest finish of any Division II team participating in the Championship.
Olsen marked three straight rounds with 71 (Even) strokes in The Buddy Championship as he finished in a three-way tie for 11th place.
Olsen and the Statesmen golf team will finish up their fall season next Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 21-22) as they travel to Oklahoma to partake in the Hrnicar Tournament hosted by Cameron University.
