BIRMINGHAM, ALA. – Delta State University freshman golfer Zach Olsen earned Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week, announced this morning by the conference office. Olsen's Freshman of the Week honors is the first GSC honor for the Men's Golf program since Zach Zediker and Noah Zediker earned GSC Monthly honors in March of 2020
 
Olsen kicked off his collegiate career finishing third in the Dunning Invitational at the Mossy Oak Golf Course in West Point, Miss.
 
The Germantown, Tenn., native shot a 76 (+4) in his first round, and followed it up with a tie for the invitational low 66 (-6) followed by a 70(-2) to finish his three rounds with a 212 total (-4).
 
The Statesmen finished fourth in the team standings shooting a total score of 872 (+8) in the Dunning Invitational.
 
The Statesmen Golf Team will head to Hot Springs, Ark., for the Battle for the Belt held at the Hot Springs Country Club on Monday and Tuesday (Sept.30-Oct.1).
