HOT SPRINGS, ARK. – The Delta State University had a season low round from senior
Matt Nicell in the second round as the team is in sixth place at the Battle for the Belt at the Hot Springs Country Club.
The Statesmen as a team shot 295 (+7) in the first round and followed it up with a 286 (-2) in the second round to put them at 581 (+5) as a team through two thirds of the invitational.
Nicell leads the Statesmen with a team low 143 (-1) through two rounds putting him in ninth place. Nicell shot a 74 (+2) in the first round but followed it up with a 69 (-3) in round two.
Freshman
Anniston McIlwain made his collegiate debut for the Statesmen as him and teammate
Oliver Gemmel are tied for 24
th with a score of 145 (+1) through two rounds. McIlwain shot a 75 (+3) in the first round and followed it up with a 70 (-2) in round two. Gemmel shot a 74 (+2) in the first round and followed it up with a 71 (-1) in the second round.
