BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Delta State Men's Golfer Zach Olsen has been voted Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Year announced by the conference office this afternoon.
 
Olsen is the first Statesmen to earn GSC Freshman of the Year honors since Kevin Jones won it 21 years ago in 2004.
 
The Germantown, Tenn., native played in 27 rounds in the 2024-25 season where he posted a 73.6 scoring average. Olsen has earned GSC Freshman of the Week honors three times in the 2024-25 season as he finished third in The Dunning Invitational and in the Derrall Foreman Invitational.
 
Olsen shot his lowest round of the season with a 66 (-6) in the opening round of The Dunning Invitational.
