TUNICA, Miss. – The Delta State University Golf Team got two top ten finishers in Matt Nicell and Oliver Gemmel as they finished in third place at the Gulf South Conference Golf Championships at Tunica National Golf Club.
 
The Statesmen shot 900 (+36) as a team and were led by senior Matt Nicell, who finished tied for seventh place.
 
Gemmel rounded out the top ten tied for tenth place as he shot a three-round total of 222 (+6).
 
Nicell shot a team low with a three-round total of 220 (+4). Nicell started the tournament with a 74 (+2) and 75 (+3) in the first two rounds but finished with his lowest score of 71 (-1)
 
The third-place finish is the highest finish for the Statesmen Golf Program in the GSC Championships since they placed in second place in the 2018 GSC Championships.
