WEST POINT, Miss. – The Delta State University men's golf team wrapped up day one at the Sam Dunning Invitational Monday at Mossy Oak Golf Course in West Point.
 
The Statesmen are in third place with a team score of 568 (-8) after 36-holes of golf in day one where the Green and White saw 33 birdies as a team throughout the two rounds.
 
DSU currently has a trio in the top-15 in Gonzalo De Minon, Linus Utter and Evans Haynie.
 
De Minon currently sits tied for seventh place in the individual rankings and is currently (-3) as he shot 71 (-1) in the first and followed it up with a 70 (-2) in the second round.
 
Utter is in sole possession of 11^th place as he is currently a stroke under par through two rounds. Linus shot an even 72 in the first round and followed up with a 71 (-1) in the second round.
 
Haynie was consistent in the first two rounds, the Lakeland, Tenn., native shot an even 72 in the first and second rounds to finish the day with 144.
 
The lowest round of the day went to senior Niko Salmi. Salmi started the tournament off strong putting himself in second with a 68 (-4). Salmi sits in a tie for 29^th after two rounds and is three over par.
 
The Statesmen will be back out on the links tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. for the third and final round of the Dunning Invitational.
