EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The Delta State University Swim and Dive Program delivered a strong performance Friday on day four of the
2026 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, highlighted by a national title in diving, an All-America finish in the butterfly and a top-four relay result.
Sophomore
Santiago Santodomingo captured the national championship in the men's 3-meter diving event, becoming the first diver in program history to do so with a score of
622.75, earning 20 team points for the Statesmen. Santodomingo improved on his preliminary score and held off Colorado Mesa's Ryan Campbell and Wayne State's Max Wasiniak to secure the title.
In the pool, senior
Janne Bodemer earned All-America honors with a
sixth-place finish in the women's 200-yard butterfly, posting a time of
1:59.97 in the championship final to score 13 points for the Lady Statesmen.
Delta State also placed three swimmers in the top 13 of the
women's 100-yard backstroke.
Kennedy Cleasant led the group with a
ninth-place finish in 54.74, while
Kaley Davis finished
11th in 55.48 and
Olivia Murphy took
13th in 55.55.
The Lady Statesmen capped the evening with a strong showing in the
200-yard freestyle relay. The quartet of
Zinna Nimander, Ave Owens, Aspen Shipp and Murphy finished
fourth in 1:31.65, earning 30 team points and narrowly missing the podium.
Delta State also had several swimmers compete in Friday's preliminaries.
Mateus Franco finished
21st in the men's 500 freestyle,
Chloe Skelt placed
17th in the women's 100 breaststroke, and
Jacob Hamblen and
Ethan Baylin finished
19th and 25th, respectively, in the men's 100 breaststroke.
Kacper Mochnal added a
19th-place finish in the men's 200 butterfly.
Delta State will conclude competition Saturday with the final day of the national championships.
