Alyssa Shetley, a junior on the Lady Statesmen Cross Country team, captures her first GoStatesmen.com Female Student-Athlete of the Week Award after claiming an All-South Region honor by finishing 25th at the NCAA South Regional 6K Meet on Saturday, Nov. 3 in Huntsville, Ala., at Johnson Park.
The Salem, Ill., native helped guide the Delta State University Lady Statesmen Cross Country to a fifth place overall finish at the NCAA South Regional (6K). Â The Lady Statesmen (167), who entered the meet ranked seventh in the region, finished behind regional champion Tampa (24), West Florida (102), Nova Southeastern (103), and Alabama-Huntsville (118).
Shetley's 23:57.42 was a new personal 6K best and the 10th best 6K time in Lady Statesmen history. Â Â
