Devin Schmidt, a junior guard on the Delta State Men's Basketball team, captures the CableONE Male Student-Athlete of the Week award after breaking the school's career scoring record versus Mississippi College on Thursday, Feb. 25 at A.E. Wood Coliseum.
Schmidt was named to the All-GSC First Team for the third straight season, after being named the GSC Freshman of the Year in 2014. This season, he used a 708-point season to break a 30-plus-year record and become Delta State's all-time scoring leader with 1,819 career points. He leds the GSC in scoring and was third in NCAA Division II with 25.29 points per game and also leds the GSC in 30-point games, reaching the mark nine times.

The Sevierville, Tennessee, native ranks in the Top 10 of seven Division II statistical categories, including a DII best 564 field goal attempts and 282 3-point attempts. In addition to his scoring, Schmidt averages 5.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.7 steals per game. He was named the GSC Player of the Week five times.

A 6-foot-4 guard, Schmidt broke DSU's career record for 3-pointers made (215) and attempted (551), eclipsed the 300 career assists mark, and is fifth in DSU history with 354 dimes. Schmidt's award marks the ninth-time a DSU player has been named GSC Player of the Year, the most by any GSC team. It also marks Delta State's second winner in three season's under head coach
