This week’s CableOne GoStatesmen.com Female Athlete of the Week is Delta State women’s soccer forward, Anoucke Bass.
 
The sophomore tallied two of the Lady Statesmen’s three goals in a crucial come-from-behind victory against conference opponent Union last Friday.  After the Lady Bulldogs jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, Baas responded, scoring on a long ball from teammate Lakyn Cryder in the 32nd minute. 
 
Bass found the net again later, when she converted on a free kick from 35 yards out to give the squad a 2-1 edge at the 52-minute mark and put the Lady Statesmen up for good.
 
Delta State’s comeback against the Lady Bulldogs marks the first time since August 2009 that the squad has prevailed after being down a goal.
