Delta State University Statesmen basketball player Jaylen Lemons was named a Guaranty Bank Featured Athlete of the Week after averaging 19.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 6.0 three-point field goals per game in a pair of games against the 18th ranked University of Alabama in Huntsville Chargers.
Lemons, who leads the team in scoring at 17.0 points per game so far this year, burst out for 26 points, four rebounds, three assists, one steal, and eight made three-point field goals in the second game of the weekend. In game one, Lemons scored 12 points, dished out three assists, and added four more three-pointers.
The Cincinnati, Ohio native, has helped lead a Statesmen offense that is second in the GSC in three-point shooting percentage at 37.5 percent, having gone 42-for-112 from beyond the three-point land.
The Statesmen return to action in Memphis on Friday, Jan. 22 and Saturday, Jan. 23 as they travel up the road to play Christian Brothers.
