Privateers edge Statesmen 133-104 in Saturday meet

Final Results

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The University of New Orleans and Delta State met Saturday in one of the most exciting and hotly contest dual meets of the season.  When the final event was complete the Privateers had edged the Statesmen 133-104.  The meet was the final regular season event before the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Championships in mid-February.

The Statesmen got several first place performances on the day led by mid-year transfer Wolfgang Mairinger, who hit the boards first in the 1000-Free and 500-Free events.

Senior All-American Roman Sereda took the 200-Individual Medley, while Stefan Lackner claimed the 200-Backstroke.

The team of Dalton DaSilva, Roman Sereda, Cameron Weidele, and Justin Ingvoldstad also claimed first place in the 400-Free Relay.

It was a tough day for junior All-American Justin Ingvoldstad.  Ingvoldstad missed out on a pair of wins in the 50-Free and 100-Free events by less than 0.13 seconds.  Jarred Gregoire of UNO edged Ingvoldstad 21.51 to 21.62 in the 50, and 47.37 to 47.40.

Sophomore diver Patrick Remmington turned in a solid day as well, taking second place in the 1-Meter and 3-Meter Diving events.
