DSU at HSU - Dual Meet Final Results
ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Henderson State University Red Wave swam past Delta State University
in a dual meet Friday at the Duke Wells HPER Center. The Red Wave men's team downed the Statesmen 141-76, while the Lady Red Wave edged the Lady Statesmen 125-106. The loss drops DSU to 1-1 in dual meets this season.
The Lady Statesmen missed out on several key opportunities with second place finishes all evening. In the 500-Free,
Maria Torres took first place for the Lady Statesmen, hitting the boards 5:12.60.
DSU also took first through fourth place in the 200-Breaststroke led by twins Heidi and
Laura Nichols. Heidi placed first with a 2:29.66 followed by Laura (2:33.65), Amiee Blegen (2:38.82) and Traylee Roberson (2:44.54).
The Lady Statesmen also took the 400-Free Relay, as
Piper Marshburn,
Elizabeth Wyatt,
Elizabeth Frye and
Kaci Bolls combined for a first place finish with a 3:53.42.
All-American
Wolfgang Mairinger continued to impress for the Statesmen, as the Traun, Austria claimed wins in the 1000-Free (9:59.43) and 500-Free (4:48.48).
The Statesmen finished one-two-three in the 200-Breaststroke, as
Clayton Boyd (2:23.93) took first followed by
Ben Rayner (2:24.24) and
Christian Barrett (2:25.38).
Delta State returns to the pool on Saturday, as the Statesmen and Lady Statesmen face off with the Tiger Sharks of Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark.
