MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The No. 34-ranked Delta State University Lady Statesmen (13-6) saw their bid to claim the Gulf South Conference Women's Tennis Championship fall short on Saturday, April 16 after dropping a 5-2 decision to the University of North Alabama Lions (17-7) in the Semifinals.

The Lions got out the gate quickly after claiming victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.  The tandem of Laura Mongin/Erin Teivans claimed the win at No. 1 over Victoria Rees/Bruna Vieria 8-3, but the damage had been done. 

Mongin tried to rally the Lady Statesmen again at No. 1 singles by defeating Rees 6-2 and 6-4, but the Lady Statesmen would drop their remaining singles matches en route to the UNA win. 

DSU advanced to the Semifinals by defeating Valdosta State 5-1 in the First Round of the GSC Championship.  Complete results are below.
