CLEVELAND - The Lady Statesmen soccer team heads north up Highway 61 for a non-conference match against Christian Brothers in Memphis, coming off a tie at Harding Tuesday.

Against Christian Brothers
The Lady Statesmen are 2-6-0 all time against Christian Brothers University.

Last time the two schools played, the Lady Bucs used three goals in the first half to get the 3-0 victory to close out the 2011 season for DSU. Christian Brothers put their first goal on the board in the 15th minute. Carmen Manes put the ball into the back of the net off an assist from Kelsey LaBarreare.

The Lady Bucs added a second goal less than a minute later. Alex Bickenbach scored off an assist from Amanda Smith. The goal put the Lady Bucs up 2-0 before the 20th minute of the match.

The Lady Bucs scored their third and final goal of the match in the 32nd  minute. Emily Smith scored with an assist on the goal by Sarah Catherine Ryan. The Lady Statesmen took nine shots to the Lady Bucs 22.

Pearson reaches career mark
After being held pointless in the opening three games of the season, Payten Pearson has scored points in five of her last seven matches with three goals and a pair of assists.

In Sunday's match against North Alabama, Pearson became the new career leader for assists by a Lady Statesmen, with her helper on Lauren May's goal. Pearson now has seven assists for the green-and-white and 23 career points.

May finding net against tough competition
After missing the first five games of the season due to injury, May scored goals in back-to-back games for the Lady Statesmen. May added another goal this past weekend against North Alabama, heading home a cross from Payten Pearson in the 11th minute.

The London, England native has now scored goals against West Florida, currently ranked No. 2 nationally; North Alabama, currently ranked No. 14 nationally; and West Alabama, currently No. 7 in the South Region poll.

Galloway gets first career clean sheet
While goalkeeper Megan Galloway didn't pick up a win Tuesday night at Harding, it wasn't from the lack of effort of the junior, who stopped 10 shots en route to a 110 minute shutout.

The Collierville, Tenn. native picked up her first career shutout with the 0-0 draw and also picked up her second career tie. Galloway has started the last four games for the Lady Statesmen and has posted a 2.32 GAA and a .756 save percentage, both team bests, while playing against two of the nation's best, then No. 4 West Florida and No. 21 North Alabama, whom sit at No. 2 and No. 14 respectively this week.

Against the states
The Lady Statesmen will face a team from Tennessee for the second time in 2012. Delta State is 0-1-0 against the state after falling 2-0 to Union University last Friday. Overall, the Lady Statesmen are 11-19-0 against the “Volunteer State.” This will be the second of four matches against the state of Tennessee this season.
