CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Delta State University Lady Statesmen tennis team fell 7-2 Saturday, March 2 to Gulf South Conference newcomer Shorter University.

Hidemi Mayeshiro recorded a win in doubles one, 8-6. Shorter would close doubles play winning doubles two 8-1 and doubles three due to forfeit.
In singles play Shorter again added to their match lead winning the first two singles matches 6-3, 6-1 and 7-5, 6-0. Sandra Tor would record the win in doubles three for the Lady Statesmen, 7-5, 6-0. Shorter would close the match winning singles four, 6-0, 6-0 and both singles five and six were given to Shorter due to forfeit
The Lady Statesmen return to the courts Thursday, March 7 as they face the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
