CARROLLTON, Ga. - The Delta State University Lady Statemen defeated the Wolves of West Georgia 5-4 in a Gulf South Conference matchup on Friday, March 29.

In doubles play DSU posted a recorde of 1-2 with a victory in doubles one as Maria Moya Morales and Hidemi Mayeshiro defeated Nicole Northrop and Raven Pugh of UWG by a score of 8-3.

In singles action the Lady Statesmen posted a record of 4-2 with wins in singles matches 1-4. Singles one saw Maria Moya Morales defeat Nicole Northrop 6-3, 6-3. In singles two Mayeshiro recorded the win for DSU defeating Whitney Maples by a score of 6-0, 6-0.

Singles three and four also went to the Lady Statesmen with Sandra Tora defeating Raven Pugh 6-0, 6-0. Hiristina Koceva of DSU defeated Cailey Stevens of UWG 6-1, 6-1 in singles four.

The Lady Statesmen return to the courts on April 5 as they face Tuskegee University in a nonconference matchup in Tuskegee, Ala.
