CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Delta State University women's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 5-0 thumping of Christian Brothers University Wednesday, April 10 at University Courts. The match was the final contest of the regular season, as the Lady Statesmen (3-9, 2-5 GSC) will begin preparing for next week's Gulf South Conference Championships in Montgomery, Ala.
Already leading 1-0 after a CBU doubles forfiet, the Lady Statesmen cruised to the next two points with back-to-back 8-0 victories in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Hidemi Mayeshiro and
Maria Moya Morales blanked Carly Lane and Tyler Napier in the top spot, while Sandra Tora and Hristina Koceva followed suit with a 8-0 win over Jordan Tedford and Kristina Reyes.
Only three singles matches were completed, as DSU cruised to wins in all three. Mayeshiro claimed a 6-0, 6-1 victory in No. 1 singled over Lane, while Tora blanked Napier 6-0, 6-0. In singles No. 3, Koceva cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Tedford to close out the match.
