Altered Road Trip Leaves Lady Statesmen Winless Against Three Opponents

GULF SHORES, Ala. / PENSACOLA, Fla. – Due to inclement weather conditions, the Delta State women's tennis matches were played in two separate locations: Gulf Shores, Ala. and Pensacola, Fla. The road trip was completed in just two days, as the Lady Statesmen competed against the University of West Florida, Valdosta State University and Nova Southeastern University.

DSU played two matches on Friday at the Gulf Coast Tennis Club against two Gulf South Conference opponents. The first was against the 9th ranked Argonauts of West Florida. Delta State was unable to come up with a win in either singles or doubles play, dropping a 6-0 loss to UWF.

The second match of the doubleheader came against No. 15 Valdosta State. Only singles matches were played between the Lady Statesmen and Lady Blazers, as the Green-and-White fell to the Red-and-Black, 5-0. This is the third consecutive GSC loss for Delta State, resulting in a 2-4 conference record on the season.

The women's third and final match of the weekend was played against the Sharks of Nova Southeastern University. It was yet another loss handed to the Lady Statesmen with a 6-0 defeat against NSU. Delta State now stands with a 4-9 record overall.

DSU's next match will be at home on April 1st against Stillman College on Senior Day. Hidemi Mayeshiro will be one of the seniors honored from both the men's and women's tennis teams.
