MEET NOTES
CLEVELAND, Mississippi- Delta State University Swim and Dive will have the first meet of the regular season as they prepare to swim in Pensacola, Florida. It will be a rematch for the Lady Statesmen as they look to defeat the University of West Florida after falling to the Argonauts at home back on January 16.
THE STARTING BLOCK
The Lady Statesmen will swim in a dual meet against the University of West Florida and Thomas University (GA). The Statesmen will also swim in a dual meet against Thomas University. The last time the Lady Statesmen faced West Florida was on January 16, 2015. The Argonauts defeated Delta State for the first time in program history (139-104). UWF also defeated Henderson State (195-47). DSU defeated Henderson State in the dual meet (162-75). Last time out for the Statesmen was also on January 16 when they defeated Henderson State (175-47) in a dual meet at the DSU Aquatic Center. This will be the second meet for the Statesmen as well in 2015 as they prepare for the NSISC Conference Tournament.
THE DELTA BREAKDOWN
Last season Delta State University Swim and Dive swam against the Argonauts and NightHawks in Pensacola with the Lady Statesmen and Statesmen winning both meets. The men defeated Thomas University 216-49 while the women swept UWF (159-133) and Thomas University (225-20). Since the start of 2015, the Argonauts have won seven of the last eight meets. Thomas University are a part of the NAIA and are a member of the Sun Conference this will be their first swim meet in the new year.
UP NEXT FOR DSU
This will be the final tune up for both DSU and UWF before the NSISC Conference Tournament to be held at the DSU Aquatic Center. Last season, the Lady Statesmen took first place at the conference tournament with West Florida coming in second. The Statesmen finished the NSISC tournament in second behind Lindenwood University. The Lady Statesmen will look to defend their title and the Statesmen will attempt to reclaim first place February 18-21 at the DSU Aquatics Center in Cleveland, Mississippi.
