ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The No. 36 Harding University women's tennis team claimed a 6-3 victory over Delta State University Thursday, Feb. 12 at the Heflin Tennis Center on the campus of Ouachita Baptist University. With the win, the Lady Bisons (4-0) claimed their second straight victory over the Lady Statesmen (1-1), who had won the previous 15 matches.
The Lady Statesmen claimed their first point of the match at No. 3 singles, as
Alex Howe defeated Katie Huff 6-3, 6-2. Sophia Louisa Niemeyer captured the second point at No. 4 singles with a 0-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory over Arielle Butler.
Delta State's final point came at No. 2 doubles, as Katharina Assman and Howe combined to defeat Huff and Butler 8-5.
The Lady Statesmen jump back into action on Friday, as Delta State faces tournament host OBU at 1 p.m.
