Lady Statesmen Tennis Team Drops GSC Match to West Alabama

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - The Delta State women's tennis team traveled to the gulf coast to take on the University of West Alabama in conference action. The match began on Thursday, March 26th, but was delayed until the following morning due to heavy downpours of rain. The Lady Statesmen (5-4, 2-2 GSC) were unable to get anything started in the first two doubles matches until the team of Sandra Tora-Martinez and Sara Alvarez-Rubio pulled out an 8-3 victory over Kathryn Adams and Shannon McEvoy. The Green-and-White were then shutout in singles play, giving the Lady Tigers (5-4, 3-3 GSC) three more points to defeat DSU 5-1.

Delta State will now travel to Pensacola, Fla. this afternoon to take on 23rd ranked Valdosta State University.
