CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Delta State women's soccer team will embark on its second Gulf South Conference road trip of the season to face the University of Alabama in Huntsville in Hunstville, Ala., on Sept. 30 at 5:00 p.m. and the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Ala., on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 3:00 p.m.
INSIDE THE SERIES:
- UAH leads the series 11-2.
- Over the 13-game history between the two teams, Delta State has allowed 29 goals.
- The Lady Statesmen's sole two wins against UAH were at Huntsville.
- In the last meeting between UAH and DSU, the Chargers defeated Delta State 3-0.
- UWA leads the series 6-1.
- This will be the eighth meeting between the two teams.
- West Alabama won 2-0 over Delta State during the 2015 season.
ABOUT DSU:
- The Lady Statesmen are currently 4-4 on the season and 0-3 in GSC play.
- The Lady Statesmen are seeking their first GSC win of the season.
- Delta State's scoring offense ranks eighth in the nation and first in the Gulf South Conference. The Lady Statesmen lead the league and are tied for fifth in the nation in assists per game averaging 2.875.
- Delta State is ranked No. 6 in the nation in points per game and first in the GSC in points per game with 9.38.
- The Lady Statesmen's 26 goals on the season rank first in the GSC and fourth nationally.
- Catherine Thomson leads the Lady Statesmen offense with five goals and 13 points. She ranks fifth in the GSC in points and goals scored. Thomson tied the school record for most goals scored in a game when she scored a hat trick against Alcorn State earlier this season.
- Emily Oldacre has made 35 saves this season. She ranks 10th in the GSC in saves, sixth in saves per game and third in shutouts.
- Rebecca Deegan holds the first place record for most penalty kicks made in a season and career after scoring the game-winning goal on a penalty kick against AUM.
- Anoucke Baas and Katie Swaine hold the second place record for most assists in a season with four apiece. Swaine and Baas rank fourth and sixth respectively in the GSC in most assists per game.
- The Lady Statesmen tied the record for most goals in a game with an 11-1 victory over Alcorn State on Sept. 13.
- Thomson leads the team in goals with five, followed by Swaine (four), Tabitha Hayden (three), Sam Naughton (three), Ali Sullivan (three), Taylor Guess (two), Deegan (two), Traci Monroe (one), Zoe Scruggs (one), Taylor Schofield (one) and Baas (one).
ABOUT UAH:
- The Chargers are 5-3 overall and 1-2 in the GSC.
- The Chargers are second in the GSC in points, goals and assists.
- The 126 shots taken by the Chargers thus far rank fourth in the league.
- Alexcia Alexander leads the Chargers' offense. She ranks fourth in the GSC in shots (27), points (13), goals (six) and game-winning goals (two).
- UAH keeper, Larae Breaux, has made 48 saves and only allowed six goals in 720:21 minutes of action. She ranks second in the GSC in shutouts, saves and saves per game.
ABOUT UWA:
- As the No. 2 team in the conference, West Alabama may be the toughest opponent the Lady Statesmen have faced all season.
- The Tigers are 5-3 overall but undefeated in conference play.
- TeMia Pride leads the GSC in shots (37) and shots per game (4.63). Pride has four goals, two assists and 10 points.
- At the forefront of the Tigers offense is Kirsten Reilly. Reilly has scored four goals and leads the team in assists and points with five and 13, respectively.
- Tiger keeper Issy Foster has faced 101 shots this season. She conceded 13 goals and made 38 saves.
