CLEVELAND, Mississippi – The No. 4/8 Delta State University swimming and diving teams return to action on Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center for an 10 a.m. CT tri-meet against No. 10 University of West Florida and No. 1/2 NCAA Division III member Emory.

On Saturday, Jan. 14, the Statesmen claimed first place in every event in a 189-81 victory over Henderson State.

The Lady Statesmen also earned a clean sweep in a 208-54 triumph over HSU. Â

ABOUT THE STATESMEN:

Matteo Fraschi was named CollegeSwimming.com NCAA Division II National Swimmer of the Week after he helped lead the Statesmen against HSU. Fraschi claimed both individual events in which he participated, including the 100 (54.88) and 200-Breaststroke (2:01.56), while also helping the 200-Freestyle and 200-Medley relay teams earn victories. In both breaststroke races, Fraschi topped the next finisher by over six seconds.

Eli McBride will look to lead the Statesmen divers after breaking school records on the 1 and 3-Meter boards at HSU. McBride scored a 332.85 on the 1-Meter board and a 346.95.

Fabrice Wendel (100-Backstroke, 100-Butterfly, 400-IM)
Mattia Schirru (50-Freestyle, 100-Freestyle) and
Gabriel Miranda (200-Freestyle, 500-Freestyle) also picked up multiple individual victories in the win over HSU.

ABOUT THE LADY STATESMEN:

Chloe Bennett, who was named NSISC Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com,
helped the Lady Statesmen to a season sweep over HSU, as she claimed the 50 and 100-Freestyle, and also helped the 200-Freestyle and Medley-Relay teams earn victories.

Casey Moore broke a nine-year old record (266.05) in the 1-Meter competition versus HSU, as she claimed the event with a 270.52.

Melanie Tombers (200-Butterfly, 400-IM), Bennett (50-Freestyle, 100-Freestyle),
Gaby Santis (200-Freestyle 500-Freestyle),
Kirsten Stroven (100-Butterfly, 200-Butterfly) and
Anastasia Klyarovskaya (100-Backstroke, 200-Backstroke) all picked up multiple individual victories versus HSU.

NSISC foe UWF enters the meet having claimed its last five meets.. The No. 1 Emory women's team has claimed the last seven NCAA Division III Championships, while the men's team is currently ranked No. 2.
