ATLANTA – In its final meet of the regular season, the No. 8 Delta State University men's swimming and diving team earned victories in five races, but it wasn't enough as NCAA Division III No. 2 Emory University claimed a 177-121 victory, on Saturday at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center.

How it happened:
- Gabriel Miranda picked up the first DSU win of the meet, as he touched the wall in 1:41.88, to narrowly defeat Christian Baker. Â
- The Statesmen claimed first and second in the 1-Meter diving competition, as Eli McBride scored a 266.05 and Nic Martin was second with a 260.50.
- After suffering a narrow defeat in the 50-Freestyle, Mattia Schirru claimed a narrow decision in the 100, touching the wall in 45.58.
- Martin came back later in the meet to defeat teammates McBride (243.75), and William Ashwell (233.50), as he posted a 273.25.
- Cody Lavoie picked up the final victory of the meet for the Statesmen, as he claimed the 400-IM in 4:03.60.
- The Statesmen also had six runner-up finishes in individual events.
A Look Ahead:
- With their regular season finished, the Statesmen will now look ahead to the NSISC Championships, which will be held from Feb. 15-18 at the DSU Aquatic Center.
