CARROLLTON, Ga. - The Delta State University women's tennis team finished the match winning three-straight singles to claim its first Gulf South Conference win against West Georgia 6-3 on Sunday afternoon.
In the doubles competition, the Lady Statesmen led 2-1 after
Alex Howe and
Nathalia Sato secured a win in the first spot, winning easily, 8-0. The streak continued on court No. 2 as
Sara Alvarez-Rubio and
Charlotte Le Flohic teamed up to grabbed an 8-5 win.
Delta State kept the momentum going into singles competition as Sato grabbed the first win in the first spot 5-2 after Jordan England of West Georgia retired. The Wolves pulled out two wins in the fourth and sixth spot with the overall tied at 3-3. The Lady Statesmen would go on to win the match after claiming three-straight singles victories at the second, third and fifth spot.
The Lady Statesmen (2-7, 1-2 GSC) hit the road again for a conference matchup at West Alabama on Saturday, March 11. The match is slated for a 9:30 a.m. start.
