Statesmen Slated to Take on Rhodes College in Home Opener

CLEVELAND, Miss.-- The Delta State men's and women's swimming and diving teams play host to Rhodes College (Tenn.) Saturday, September 29th, at the DSU Aquatics Center.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 am. 
 
The matchup against Rhodes will be Delta State's second meet of the 2018-2019 campaign.  While both men's and women's squads fell to Division I foe, Alabama, in their season opener, the loss highlighted several early bright spots for the Statesmen and Lady Statesmen. . 
Giulio Brugnoni earned his second straight win over the Division 1 Alabama squad in the 100-yard backstroke. Newcomer Matey Rezashki earned his first win as a Statesman in the 200-yard IM. 

Madison Lavoieearned a victory in the 100-breaststroke and 200-yard IM while also a second place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke and Gillian Pratt led the way on the diving platform for the Green and White.
 
The Statesmen won all but one race and notched ten event sweeps against Rhodes on the men's side last year. On the women's side, the Lady Statesmen won all but two events, while recording three 1-2-3 finishes.
 
This will be the fourth straight year the swimming and diving teams have their home opening meet against the Rhodes Lynx.
 
Up next the Statesmen will take on Missouri S&T on October 19thin Rolla, Mo. and the Lady Statesmen will take on Lindenwoodand Drury on October 20thin Saint Charles, Mo.
