NCAA DIVING PRE-QUALIFIERS: MEN | WOMEN
CLEVELAND, Miss. – The NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Committee announced on Wednesday, Feb. 27 the qualifiers for the 2019 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. Delta State University Swimming and Diving placed 22 Statesmen and Lady Statesmen into the upcoming championship meet, including 17 swimmers and five divers.
"We're extremely proud of the work our Statesmen and Lady Statesmen put into qualifying for the NCAA championships," DSU head coach
Dan'l Murray said. "We have an excellent balance between the men's and women's teams with 12 Statesmen and 10 Lady Statesmen on the list. We will also have the opportunity to bring four relay-only swimmers for each team competing in Indianapolis."
Coming off their dominating performance at the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Championships, the Statesmen qualified eight swimmers and three divers. Sophomore
Giulio Brugnoni qualified in four events to lead the squad, including the 50-Free, 100-Fly, 100-Back and 200-Back.
Nathan Sawicki and
Emanuel Fava qualified in three events apiece with
Mattia Schirru and
Federico Bracco earning spots in two events each.
Danyyil Gayuk,
Michael Maly,
Matey Rezashki, and
Savio Ragonesi all qualified in one event while
Nic Martin,
Hunter McCarter and
Kyle Weesner will compete in the prequalifying diving meet.
Josh Armond,
Kohen Kerr,
Keith Lloyd, and Alexander Zolotukin are the Statesmen's four relay-only competitors.

The Lady Statesmen finished second in last week's NSISC Championships and the strength of that performance helped qualify 10 for the NCAA National Championship. Senior
Caroline Jouisse earned spots in the 500-Free, 1000-Free and 1650-Free events.
Chelsea Borrowdale,
Madison Lavoie, and
Celeste Turner all qualified for three events as well.
Lucia Martelli and
Sierra Rhodes qualified in two events each with
Madelyn Byrd and
Celina Batsel receiving individual event invites.
Victoria Brady,
Rylee Daniels and
Peyton Osborne will serve as the Lady Statesmen's two relay-only competitors.
The NCAA Division II National Championships will be held March 13-16 at the Indiana University Natatorium and co-hosted by Indiana Sports Corporation, the University of Indianapolis, and Indiana Swimming.
