Quoting the coach:
  • Dan'l Murray- "What a great accomplishment for the guys this week. They had a goals and standards meeting at the beginning of the year and a top four performance was the goal. To finish second in the country is a huge accomplishment especially for the seniors. They were 13 points away from a trophy in 2016 when these seniors were freshman so it is great to see them earn the second place trophy.

  • Nathan Sawicki broke his own school record of 15:22:42 with a new time of 15:13:03 which was eight seconds faster than before.
  • Sawicki's place of third passed Wolfgang Mairinger's fourth place finish in Canton, Ohio in 2010.
  • Schirru has finished in the top five of the 100 free all four years of college His time of 43.50 was his second fastest time. In 2016 in Indianapolis, he swam it in 43.11.
  • Brugnoni ties Cagri Sapmaz for the highest finish in DSU history in the 200 backstroke. Although Brugnoni swam it five seconds faster.
  • It was the first All-America status for Keith Lloyd in the 400 free relay.
