CLEVELAND, Miss. –
Dalton Minton and
Seth Hougesen tossed complete games to lead the 18th ranked Delta State University baseball team (30-10, 18-8 GSC) to a doubleheader sweep of the University of West Alabama (22-15, 9-13 GSC) on Monday, April 15 at Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field.
The Green-and-White captured a 12-2 run-rule win in game one and captured a 4-2 win in the nightcap to sweep the three-game series.
Minton tossed seven innings, yielding two runs on four hits with six strikeouts to help the Statesmen to the win in game one.
Seth Hougesen struck out five and gave up two runs on six hits in 5.2 innings in game two.
Jake Barlow went 3-for-7 with five RBIs on the day, including a two-run home run that proved to the difference in game two.
Brett Young was 3-for-7 with three RBIs and
Payton Lane was 5-for-6 with two RBIs.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GM 1
- West Alabama grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. RJ Brown reached on an error and scored on a Ben Dalke single.
- The Statesmen scored three runs in the second to take a 3-1 lead. Payton Lane singled and scored on a Weber Herbison single and Josh Russell singled and scored on a Brett Young infield single. Herbison stole home on a delayed double steal for the third run.
- Nine runs crossed the plate in the fourth as the Statesmen's lead grew to 12-2. Young had a two-run double and Barlow delivered a three-run double with the bases loaded. Patrick Hodges and Lane also had RBI singles.
- RJ Brown belted a solo home run in the fifth to cut the DSU lead to 12-2.
ON THE MOUND | GM 1
- Dalton Minton (7-2) struck out six while allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits to earn the win.
- Tanner Elders (3-5) pitched three innings, giving up seven runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts and three walks as the Tigers pitcher of record.
HOW IT HAPPENED | GM 2
- West Alabama took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. Taylor Clemmons and Dalke singled and scored on a Justin Booker double to left.
- The Statesmen cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth. Lane doubled and scored on a Josh Russell single to right field. DSU had runners at the corners with one out before a double play ended the threat.
- Delta State grabbed a 4-2 lead with a three-run fifth. Barlow belted a two-run home run with Sargent on base and Payton Lane had an RBI double home Matt Majeur.
- TJ Childree entered the game with one out and a runner in scoring position to record the final five outs to close the game.

- Seth Hougesen (5-0) struck out five and allowed two runs while scattering six hits to earn the xxx
- Peyton Warren (4-1) gave four runs on 10 hits and recorded four strikeouts in six innings pitched to take the loss.
- Childree (5) registered a strikeout and gave up a hit over the final 1.1 innings to pick up the save.
