CLEVELAND, Miss. -- Delta State University second baseman Jake Barlow and pitcher Hunter Riggins were named to the D2CAA First-Team All-South Region on Thursday. 

Barlow is a First-Team All-Gulf South Conference selection and earned GSC and NCBWA South Region Player of the Week honors this season. The Jonesville, La., native leads the Statesmen with a .333 batting average while also leading the team with 53 RBIs, 11 home runs, five triples, 64 hits, 46 runs and a .625 slugging percentage. The redshirt, junior leads the GSC in triples, ranks fourth in slugging percentage and RBIs and is tied for third in home runs. Barlow has 17 multi-hit games that include six three-hit games and one four-hit outing and leads DSU with 13 multi-RBI games, including seven games with three-plus RBIs. 

Riggins was also named First-Team All-GSC and was selected the GSC and NCBWA South Region Pitcher of the Week once. Riggins has a 10-3 record and 2.13 ERA in 93.0 innings pitched this season. The Hernando, Miss., native has yielded 39 runs, 22 earned, on 82 hits with 75 strikeouts against 31 walks and opponents are hitting .231 against the righty. Riggins leads the GSC in ERA and wins and is second in innings pitched, third in strikeouts looking (21), and eighth in strikeouts (75). Riggins and Minton rank fifth nationally in victories with 10.

The Statesmen (29-12), who captured their 15th GSC Baseball Tournament title on May 7, 2019, open play in the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament against Embry-Riddle University at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field.
