Blankenship, Fava Pace Statesmen on Night Three of Christmas Invitational

CLEVELAND, Miss. -- Emanuel Fava took home the 100 yard backstroke and Jawone Blankenship won the three meter diving competition to conclude the third night of the 2020 Delta State Christmas Invitational.

INSIDE THE LANE LINES
  • In the 100 butterfly, Emanuel Fava took second place with a time of 47.88. That time was fast enough for an NCAA "B" cut time.
  • Alex Miller was third in the 100 butterfly with a time of 48.95 and Nathan Garick came in fifth in 48.96.
  • John Stewart was the top finisher in the 400 individual medley with a time of 3:55.49. AJ Williams clocked a 4:04.42 to finish in fourth.
  • Nicholas Plumb won the 400 individual medley "B" final with a time of 4:08.96.
  • The 200 freestyle saw Miller come in fifth with 1:42.26 as the top finisher for the Statesmen.
  • Garick won the 200 freestyle "B" final with a time of 1:42.82.
  • Gavin Blackshear came in fifth place in the 100 breaststroke with a 59.04. Williams won his heat with a time of 56.31.
  • Fava secured the 100 backstroke title with a time of 47.94, which is fast enough for an NCAA "B" cut time.
  • Tucker Schroer came in fourth with a 50.15 in the 100 backstroke and Carson Traylor won his heat with a time of 52.90.
  • The team of Schroer, Fava, Miller, and Noble Reynolds came in second in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:22.42.
ON THE BOARDS
  • Jawone Blankenship won the 3-meter dive competition with a score of 552.45. Blankenship adds the win to his 1-meter dive title earlier in the meet. 
  • Hunter McCarter came in third place with a score of 422.24. McCarter's 496.05 in the morning preliminary session qualified him for NCAA Nationals.
