GENEVA, Ohio. -- Competing on what ended up being a historic day in professional and collegiate athletics, the Delta State University men's swimming and diving team closed its 2019-20 season at the NCAA Division II National Championships on Thursday.
Swimmers had completed the day two preliminary qualifying swims and dives and were prepped for finals when the NCAA announced its cancellation of at winter and spring sports due to COVID-19 concerns.

INSIDE THE LANE LINES (PRELIMS)
- The Delta State men's 200-free relay of Giulio Brugnoni, Tucker Schroer, Danyyil Gayuk and Emanuel Fava swam a 1:20.50 to qualify for the consolation final.
- In the 400 IM, Matey Rezashki swam his preliminary race in 3:55.24 to qualify 16th into the consolation final.
- Brugnoni swam a 46.87 in the 100 butterfly, the second-fastest prelim swim, to earn a spot in the consolation final.
- Carson Traylor, in his first NCAA Championships, finished 29th in the 100-fly in 49.64.
- In the 200-free, senior Michael Maly finished 27th with a 1:39.61.
- The Delta Relay of Fava, Gayuk, Alex Miller, and Schroer swam a 3:14.51 in the 400-medley to finish 11th and qualify for the evening's consolation final.
ON THE BOARDS (PRELIMS)
- Kyle Weesner finished in 9th on the one-meter diving board with a score of 396.80.
- Jawone Blankenship qualified for the championship final on the one-meter board, posting a 398.35 to qualify sixth.
