Statesmen Drop Pair of Dual Meets to Missouri S&T and McKendree

LEBANON, Ill. -- The Delta State University Statesmen swimming and diving team dropped a pair of dual meets over the weekend, falling to Missouri S&T on Friday night in Rolla, Mo. and then falling to Missouri S&T again and to McKendree University on Saturday.

Savio Ragonesi won the only event for DSU in the pool on Friday night and Jawone Blankenship swept the events on the diving boards on Saturday for Delta State's only wins.

INSIDE THE ROPES
FRIDAY
  • The Statesmen relay team of Emanuel Fava, Savio Ragonesi, Federico Bracco, and Tucker Schroer placed second in the 400 yard medley relay in 3:31.91.
  • Bracco took second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:55.79
  • Ben Kelly came in second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:59.44.
  • Ragonesi easily won the 200-yard backstroke with a five second victory over second place AJ Williams. Ragonesi finished the race with a time of 2:09.57.
SATURDAY
  • Carson Traylor came in third in the 200-yard butterfly with at time of 1:55.53.
  • Schroer finished in third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.37.
  • Ragonesi took second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:07.01.
  • Bracco took second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.56.
  • The relay team of Schroer, Bracco, Alex Miller, and Ragonesi came in second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:26.55. 
ON THE BOARDS:
  • Jawone Blankenship dominated the boards with a score of 321.82 on the one-meter dive which was 50 points higher than anyone else.
  • Levi Ward and Nicholas Stark came in third and fourth, respectively, on the one-meter diving board.
  • Blankenship also won the three-meter dive with a score of 338.62.
  • Ward came in third and Max McCarter came in fourth.

The Statesmen return on the road on Nov. 6 as they will take on Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia, Ark.
