VALDOSTA, Ga. -- The Delta State University women's tennis team hit the court for the first time in over a year with a 4-3 loss to Valdosta State University on Saturday morning. The Lady Statesmen showed massive improvements throughout the match. Coach Bo Petro stated, "We are getting better day-by-day, and I am very excited about what the future holds for this team."

• Alena Macharova and Sofia Colvee (DSU) couldn't get a game off Estee Widdershoven and Rachelle Starreveld (VSU) 6-0.
• Sofia Pepe and Manuela Impeciati (DSU) fell in a close match against Birte Langenstine and Julie Saving (VSU) 6-4.
• Katheryne Valencia Perez and Valentine Colin (DSU) defeated Hera Bjork and Amelia Cornwall (VSU) 6-2.

SINGLES

• Macharova (DSU) made her debut in the No. 1 singles position, but fell to Widdershoven (VSU) 6-3, 7-6.
• Pepe (DSU) fell to Starreveld (VSU) 6-2, 6-1.
• Colin (DSU) battled with Langenstein (VSU) and prevailed 7-5, 6-7, and 10-6.
• Impeciati (DSU) defeated Saving (VSU) 6-3, 6-1.
• Colvee (DSU) fell to Bjork (VSU) 6-4, 6-4.
• Perez (DSU) defeated Cornwall (VSU) quickly in two sets 6-3, 6-2.
