Lady Statesmen Sweep Rhodes on Senior Day

RESULTS

CLEVELAND, Miss. -- 
The Delta State University Lady Statesmen swim team defeated Rhodes College on Senior Day at the Ronald G. Mayers Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon.

Before the start of the meet, Delta State honored six Lady Statesmen for senior day. Madison Lavoie led the way for Delta State, winning three individual races.

INSIDE THE ROPES
  • The 200-yard medley relay team of Madelyn Byrd, Madison Lavoie, Celeste Turner, and Lucia Martelli took first with a time of 1:43.43.
  • Peyton Osborn won the 1000 free with a time of 10:51.65.
  • Turner won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:52.97.
  • Martina Rossetti won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.05.
  • Danielle Solkow was first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.60.
  • Byrd took first place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:04.86.
  • In her individual race this season, Martelli took first in the 50-yard free with a time of 24.04.
  • Turner won her second event of the night in 100-yard with a time of 52.66.
  • Byrd also won her second event with a victory in the 200-yard backstroke setting a time of 2:03.82.
  • The 200-yard breaststroke had Lavoie take first with a time of 2:23.46.
  • Jamie Glover claimed victory in the 500-yard free with a time of 5:15.25
  • In the 100 yard butterfly, Martelli easily took first place with a time of 55.40.
  • Lavoie won her third and final event of the day in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:09.05.
  • The final race of the day was the 200-yard freestyle relay and the team of Byrd, Martelli, Solkow, and Tristan Fant came in second with a time of 1:35.50. 
ON THE BOARDS:
  • Gillian Pratt came in first on the three-meter dive with a score of 259.65.
  • Pratt also won the one-meter dive setting a school record for both six and 11 dives with scores of 288.52 and 476.40.
  • Hannah Babcock took second place on the one and three-meter dives.

UP NEXT

This was the final regular-season meet. The Lady Statesmen are back in action on Feb. 16 as they will take part in the NSISC Championships at the Ronald G. Mayers Aquatic Center.
