CLEVELAND, Miss. — The Delta State University women's swimming and diving team delivered a dominant performance Friday afternoon, rolling past Montevallo by a 133–93 margin in the Senior Meet at the Ronald G. Mayers Aquatic Center.
The Lady Statesmen controlled the meet from the opening relay, piling up points across all disciplines while showcasing depth and consistency. Delta State claimed multiple event wins and podium finishes, setting the tone early and never relinquishing momentum.
Olivia Murphy highlighted the sprint events with victories in both the 50-yard freestyle (24.10) and the 100-yard butterfly (57.39), while
Zinna Nimander added a win in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.37.
Kaley Davis picked up an individual win in the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall first in 58.40.
In the distance events,
Jessica Gannon posted a strong second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, while
Mikayla Kloth captured the 200-yard breaststroke title. Delta State also swept key relay points, including a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, where the squad of
Ave Owens,
Janne Bodemer, Davis, and Kloth clocked a time of 1:41.55.
The Lady Statesmen are back in the pool in just over a month from now as they will participate in the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Championships starting on Tuesday, February 17
th at the University of West Florida.
