CLEVELAND, Miss. — The Delta State University women's swim and dive team turned in another strong night at the 2026 New South Intercollegiate Swimming Conference Championships on Friday, highlighted by a relay record and multiple NCAA qualifying performances. The Lady Statesmen sit in second place overall with 679 team points heading into the final day of competition.
Delta State opened the finals session with a statement in the 100-yard backstroke, placing four swimmers in the A final. Senior
Kaley Davis led the way with a runner-up finish in 54.27, followed closely by sophomore
Olivia Murphy in third at 54.40. Senior
Aspen Shipp added a fifth-place finish (54.95), while sophomore
Kennedy Cleasant posted a D2 B consideration time of 55.41.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, freshman
Kiera Cloete earned a silver-medal finish with a time of 1:03.53, good for an NCAA Division II B cut. Senior
Pia Delkeskamp (1:04.72) and junior
Hannah Jones (1:05.46) added valuable points with fourth- and fifth-place finishes, respectively.
Reigning conference champion
Janne Bodemer defended her title in the 200-yard butterfly with a first-place swim of 1:59.86, earning an NCAA invite time and securing another conference crown for the Lady Statesmen. Senior
Mikayla Kloth added points in the A final with a fourth-place finish (2:06.49).
In distance action, freshman
Rhianna Foster placed fourth in the 500-yard freestyle with a NCAA B cut time of 5:02.42. Senior
Jessica Gannon captured the B final (5:05.16), while sophomore
Julia Maciak contributed additional points in the consolation final.
Delta State capped the night in record-breaking fashion in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The quartet of
Zinna Nimander,
Ave Owens,
Aspen Shipp and
Olivia Murphy raced to a conference-record time of 1:30.69, securing the gold medal and surpassing the previous NSISC mark. The Lady Statesmen also placed ninth in the B final relay.
With 679 points, Delta State remains firmly in second place as the championship meet heads into its final day.
