CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Swimming and Diving team continued to get production from sophomores Riley Oaks, Ethan Braylin, and Jake Runyon on day two of the Thanksgiving Invite from the Ronald G. Mayers Aquatic Center.
Oakes would bring the Statesmen their lone first-place finish in the evening finals session, as he would win the 100-yard backstroke with a 49.93 time.
Starting off the night for the green and white was junior
Simon Pereira in the 100-yard butterfly. Pereira would get a second place finishing the race in 49.13 seconds.
In the 400-yard medley, Oakes would get a third-place finish with a time of 3:58.52.
Following the 400-yard medley Runyon would take a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle final with a 1:39.08 mark.
The first, second-place finish of the night would come in the 100-yard breaststroke as Braylin would swim a 56.02, giving the statesmen 28 points.
The Statesmen would get two top three finishers in the 100-yard backstroke as Oakes would get a first-place finish with a time of 49.93 seconds. Freshman
Michael Robinson would get a third-place finish going 100-yards in 50.58 seconds.
In the 200-yard medley relay, the Statesmen relay team of
Michael Robinson,
Jacob Hamblen,
Simon Pereira, and Ethan Braylin would grab a second-place finish with 1:30.46 mark.
The Statesmen are currently in second place in the team standings with 1056.5 points. Ouachita Baptist currently leads all teams with 1221.5 points in the team standings.
The Thanksgiving invite will conclude tomorrow at the Ronald G. Mayers Aquatics center. The Preliminary rounds start at 10 a.m. (CDT). The Finals will be at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
