WEST POINT, MISS. – The Delta State University men's golf team chalked up a –5 scorecard in their second 18 holes out of 36 holes today (Sept. 23) at The Dunning Invitational at the Mossy Oak Golf Course in West Point.
The -5 in the second round marked the lowest score out of any team in the second round of the Dunning Invitational. All five golfers improved with lower scores in the second round from their first-round scorecards.
Freshman
Zach Olsen had a tremendous start to his collegiate career. Olsen shot a 76 (+4) on his first round but followed up with a tie for the lowest score on the day with a 66 (-6) in the second round to put him in seventh overall with a -2 on the two rounds. Olsen had a team high nine birdies in the afternoon.
Senior
Matt Nicell is currently tied for 19
th place as he combined a 75 on the first 18 and followed it up with a 73 to be +4 on the first day.
Redshirt sophomore
PA Kilburn, and senior
Oliver Gemmel both currently are tied for 25
th with a combined score of +5 in their two rounds. Both Kilburn and Gemmel shot a 77 (+5) in the first round and followed up with a 72 (E) in the second round
The Tee times for the Statesmen are tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
