CLEVELAND, Miss. – Three members of the Delta State University swim and dive program were recently chosen for prestigious scholarships.
The Dr. Michael J. Carr swimming and diving scholarship is awarded each year to a student demonstrating financial need and who maintains a 3.0 GPA with a preference for international students.
Simon Pereira was named this year's recipient. Pereira, a junior from Medellin, Colombia, is majoring in flight operations. His primary events are the individual medley, breaststroke, and freestyle.

The Cetin Oguz & Carmen Cooper Oguz swimming and diving scholarship, established in 2018, honors Cetin Oguz, a native of Istanbul and member of the Turkish National Team. As a Delta Staet swimmer from 1998-2001, Cetin held over 10 school records and ranked fourth at the NCAA Division II National Championships. This scholarship supports international students who swim for Delta State, following in Cetin's footsteps. This year's recipient is
Mateus Franco, a junior from Vitoria, Brazil, majoring in computer information systems. His primary events are middle distance to distance freestyle.

The Keller Swimming Scholarship is awarded to a Delta State swimmer in memory of the parents of Chrissy Keller LaMastus and Katherine Keller Batenhorst. Their parents were devoted to their daughters' swimming careers and loved how Delta state cared for their daughters. The scholarship is awarded to a swimmer who exhibits an excellent work ethic in the pool and in the classroom. This year's recipient is
Mikayla Kloth, a junior from Ames, Iowa. She is majoring in environmental science and biology, and her primary events are butterfly and spring freestyle.
