MOBILE, Ala. – The Delta State Women's Tennis Team finished day one at the GSC Fall Championships with four quarter finalists in Singles action and a doubles team with a quarterfinal appearance.
Yasmina Mayer was the First Lady Statesmen to move the quarterfinals in singles action with a first-round victory in flight two against Claire Jaramba in tie breaking fashion (4-6, 6-4, 10-8). Mayer will face West Alabama's Jenalia Prulla in the quarterfinals tomorrow morning at 10:45 a.m.
In doubles action, the team of
Amelia Ciesielczyk and
Trinity Ly moved onto the quarterfinals after a 6-4 win over Montevallo's Erika Freire and Johanna Kullman. Ciesielczyk and Ly fell 6-2 in the quarterfinals to Ann Cabot Stockett and Emily Buchanan from Mississippi College.
Two Lady Statesmen moved to the quarterfinals in flight three as
Lena Kuehn defeated Sofia Neri from Auburn Montgomery in tie breaking fashion (0-6, 7[7]-6[4], 10-7). Kuehn will face Wambui Taylor from Mississippi College at 10:45 a.m.
Along with Kuehn is Anastasiia Iakovlieva, who will be in the quarterfinal round tomorrow after defeating Allison Blanco from Auburn Montgomery in straight sets (6-3, 6-4). Iakovlieva will face West Alabama's Ximena Ku tomorrow at 10:45 a.m.
In flight four,
Angie Moreno advanced to the quarterfinal round after defeating West Florida's Ansley Minnich in straight sets (6-2, 6-1). Moreno will face Auburn Montgomery's Ana Clara Campigotto tomorrow morning at 10:45 a.m.
The Championship rounds and consolation rounds will continue tomorrow morning starting at 9 a.m. at the Mobile Tennis Center.
