ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — The Delta State University Men's Swimming and Diving fell on the road to Henderson State University 160-101 Friday evening in the Duke Wells Center.
Eudald Tosquella and
Mateus Franco highlighted the night. Tosquella captured the
200 breaststroke in 2:10.67, while Franco claimed gold in the
500 freestyle (4:41.52). The quartet of
Jacob Hamblen, Austin Huffhines, Sergio Rodriguez, and Ethan Baylin battled hard in the
200-freestyle relay, finishing just .14 seconds behind Henderson State with a 1:25.48.
Ethan Baylin was another bright spot, capturing the
50 freestyle in
21.11 seconds and finishing runner-up in the
100 freestyle (47.32).
Jacob Hamblen picked up a big individual win in the
100 breaststroke (58.65) and helped the Statesmen to a narrow runner-up finish in the
200 freestyle relay (1:25.48), joined by Huffhines, Rodriguez, and Baylin in one of the meet's most exciting races — finishing just .14 seconds behind Henderson State's top squad.
The Statesmen are back in the pool tomorrow as they will face the Tigers from Ouachita Baptist University.
