Statesmen Fall to Ouachita Baptist in Day Two at the Statesmen Shootout

CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Men's Swimming and Diving team fell to the Tigers from Ouachita Baptist University 339-298 this afternoon in the Ronald G. Mayers Aquatics Center.
 
The Statesmen finished the night on a high note with the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Ethan Baylin, Brooks Butler, Jake Runyon, and Michael Robinson defeated the OBU relay team with a 1:20.93 time.
 
Riley Oakes and Mateus Franco took the top two spots in the 200-yard backstroke. Oakes finished at 1:47.92.
 
Franco won the mid-distance race of the evening finishing the 500-yard freestyle in 4:32.74.
 
The Statesmen Divers had a great performance as junior Ryan Whaley and freshman Jacob Bigler took the top two spots in the 3-meter dive. Whaley scored 516.68 while Bigler scored 475.28.
 
Michael Robinson would grab another first-place finish this weekend in the 100-yard butterfly with a 48.59 second race.
 
The Statesmen finish the regular season and will be back in action in the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Championships two weeks from this upcoming Tuesday in the Ronald G. Mayers Aquatics Center.
