INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Delta State University Men's Swimming and Diving Team had seven swimmers earn 11 All-American honors at the NCAA National Championships in Indianapolis this week. The Statesmen finished 27
th as a team scoring 22 points in the meet.
Delta State's list of All-Americans are highlighted by junior distance swimmer
Mateus Franco. Franco earned All-American honors in two individual events and two relay events.
The Statesmen distance relay team of
Austin Huffhines,
Simon Pereira, Jake Runyon, and Franco finished 14
th in the 800-yard Freestyle Relay earning second team All-American honors with a time of 6:34.89.
Wednesday evening consisted of Franco earning second team All-American honors in the 1,000-yard Freestyle as he won the Consolation Finals with a time of 9:10.03
Freshman butterfly swimmer
Kacper Mochnal earned second team All-American honors as he finished 16
th in the 200-yard butterfly Friday evening with a time of 1:47.34.
Delta State finished the meet on a high note Saturday with Franco starting off the afternoon session earning another All-American honor as he would finish the mile in 13
th place with a time of 15:31.25.
Finishing the Saturday evening session was the 400-yard Freestyle relay team of
Ethan Baylin, Franco, Runyon, and
Michael Robinson would earn All-American honors with a 16
th place finish in the final event of the NCAA Championships with a 2:57.58 timed race.
