BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Delta State University Sophomore Golfer
Ty Werynski is this week's Gulf South Conference Player of the Week announced this afternoon.
Werynski shot nine birdies leading to a 65 (-7) in the final round putting him at a three-round total of 207 (-9), finishing two strokes ahead of the runner up Drew Zielinski from Lee University. Werynski's first place finish marks the first individual championship won by a Statesmen golfer since Landon Cottrell won the Foreman invitational back on October 13, 2020.
The Statesmen as a team finished in third place, shooting 882 (+18) in the tournament.
Delta State will hit the road to Hot Springs next Monday (Sept. 29) for the Battle for the Belt hosted by Henderson State.
